Brian and Sherrie Beres of Manassas, VA are Vedat's summer host family.

Brian and I were very interested in meeting Vedat after our parents Ken and Judy Yancey introduced us one Sunday when we were at CBC.  We are now honored to be hosting Vedat this summer at our home in Manassas.

Brian is a Biology teacher in the DC school system so he has the opportunity to spend the summer days with Vedat and work with Vedat on his reading comprehension and math skills.  Sherrie is an occupational therapist for Fauquier Health so she enjoys keeping Vedat well exercised and increasing his ability to be more independent.

We are striving to give Vedat opportunities to grow in his faith, confidence, independence, and overall physical and mental strength to give him the confidence in the near future with any transitions he faces in his future return home.

Vedat enjoys the daily challenge of training our cattle dog, Pete, and keeping up with Brian and I in our active life style.  We enjoy doing everything as a family so Vedat has joined our tradition and is assisting in cooking, cleaning, playing Frisbee, taking the dog out, shopping, etc. We have already enjoyed several vacations and get aways such as the New Jersey Shore, trips to the pool, basketball, Frisbee, baseball on the beach, and horse back riding.  Vedat's smile and energy keeps us hopping and never leaves a dull moment.

Thanks for everyone's love and support for Vedat to make his experience in the US the very best and giving us the opportunity to enjoy him for the summer.

From time to time even during the summer, respite care for Vedat is also needed, which allows the family to have time for themselves. Vedat enjoys spending time with other families, and this also allows the opportunity for these families to get to know him.  If you would like to invite Vedat over for a day or a weekend, please contact Agnes Welch at bnawelch@yahoo.com.
